comet mcnaught

here is a little something all y'all in the northern hemisphere can't see...

comet mcnaught is apparently the brightest comet in the last 30 years and if it breaks apart, it could become the brightest seen for several centuries.

new digs.

our first mission accomplished, we've moved on to new missions, like removing all the cobwebs and grime and the strange smell of death from our recently leased apartment. we're considering decorating with car air fresheners to counter the smell-of-death problem.

we'll send pictures and an address soon.

our other new mission is, naturally, securing the employment that will enable us to pay rent and buy more cleaning products.

new digs?

hey ya'll, we're back in christchurch, new zealand.
our current mission is to secure a flat.
we viewed a few apartments today. . . and no luck so far, but we still have hope, the classifieds and the internet.

we seem to be very peculiar long-term travelers. besides the obvious necessities such as clothing and toothpaste, i happen to have about 20 books, an assortment of rubic's cubes and other bulky puzzles i've been collecting here and there, and way too much electronic equipment such as spare computer batteries that apparently look like explosives when x-rayed.

and now della is including in her luggage a bunch of discarded wood with half-finished paintings on them. one of them is covered in birdpoo, which della originally "cordoned off" in order to avoid it when composing the rest of the painting - but ultimately these "highlights" overemphasize the birdpoo and draw the eye of anyone looking at the artwork.

so we get strange looks from the customs officials when they x-ray and search our bags.

summer in the city/ back of my neck gettin' dirty and gritty

it's hot in melbourne. so hot we forgot to take pictures and write blogs. today we spent a few extra hours in the air conditioning and now we're back on track. here's what we've been doing: riding the free tourist tram around the city, visiting art museums, reading books, eating chicken, using exercise equipment, buying bananas(after an extensive price/quality comparison process), buying a dress(using the "banana method") and making reservations for a dracula-themed cabaret show, which we will be enjoying in an hour and a half.
