Travel

by Jenny Bornholdt

This is what happens.
You go out to the world
then return and want
to put your arms around
everything.

Spend the end of your
twenties on a boat between
islands, in the company of
mobile homes Maui and
Endeavour.

Climb into the freshly made
bed of the country.
Just before Timaru, Phar Lap
Motors
, then Timaru
Windscreen and Glass Open
Forever
.

Wanaka on a boat towards
snow. Get familiar with
the lake, the purple
hills. A plane rolls
in the lovely silver
light.

Turn thirty in Christchurch.
Your present a tea towel
Greetings from Opunake
both islands bright
green—you hold the
country in your hands.

  • Have a very, very happy...non-unBirthday!
    A two-day-long non-unbirthday.
There in that time forwarded, backward spinning, upside-down, light shifted, opposite side.
"One" of 365 made significant by you.
Your oneness tracking forward, a space-time-line throughout this world...and that world.
    Happy Happy! : ) egroeg

  • Della,

We hope that you had a very happy 30th birthday as well.

What can we say...How many people get to spend their 30th in beautiful New Zealand.

Did Ty cook you your birthday dinner? And, what was it?

  • for my nz birthday, we went out for dinner in lyttleton and then to a poetry reading. ( i had pumpkin ravioli and tyson had lamb.) the next night (friday) we went out to the dance clubs with some of my workmates. then last night (saturday), our new neighbors had a housewarming party. so yeah, it was a pretty eventful birthday weekend!

  • Sea-Fever
    by John Masefield (1878-1967)

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky.
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sails shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.

Good luck and fair winds on you upcoming voyage. : ) egroeg
